Start with the operating system, not only the brand printed on the television. Samsung, LG, Android TV, Fire TV, Apple devices and Windows computers use different stores and players. Install only a recognised app from an official source.

1. Identify the platform
Open the device settings and note the model, operating system and software version. Check available storage and install pending system updates before adding a new player.

2. Prepare the home connection
Test the intended room and screen. Ethernet can be steadier for a fixed television or box, while Wi-Fi performance depends on distance, walls, interference and the number of connected devices.

3. Add authorised access details
Enter the account information exactly as supplied by the authorised service. Keep passwords private, avoid screenshots that expose credentials and do not install files received from unknown messages.

4. Troubleshoot one layer at a time
Check whether other apps have Internet access, then confirm the player version, account validity and device clock. Record the exact error before reinstalling so support can identify the failing layer.
